ABBEY PARK'S OUTINGS

Updated: Apr 18, 2021

Abbey Park's debut was at the Stevenage CMRA January 2019 Exhibition.

It was the first time that we have been able to fully test and operate end to end 25 foot long layout. (This was our first official exhibition as we did do an informal exhibition at the Acton Depot back in 2016 with only 12ft!)

Not surprisingly, we encountered a number of issues so we have decided to take Abbey Park offline so that we can complete the various snagging works and fully test the layout before we get back out on the exhibition circuit again in 2020.

However, following a meeting with the members after the Milton Keynes show, we initially decided to start again and build a new layout which would be easier to transport and maintain among the members. Rather disappointingly, after a few months, the members had not only lost interest in creating a layout but most of the key members had retired by this point and had moved elsewhere out of London thus making it very difficult to be able to transport sections of the layout to other people. This will probably make it very unlikely for a return of a London Underground themed model railway in the near future. Who knows, the youngest member might make a return with something new! As always, should that be the case, an update will appear on this website. A list of the exhibitions we went to are below.

Acton Depot: 12-13 January 2016

(Acton Depot: 22-23 April 2017, Abbey Road was used instead of Abbey Park)

Stevenage: 12-13 January 2019

Milton Keynes: 15-16 February 2020
